Level 5's Megaton Musashi television anime multimedia project will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji on October 1.
The project includes a television anime, a game, the collaboration with Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, Bandai toys, and an internet-sourced anime titled "After School." Level-5 announced the project in 2016, initially with a planned start time for the summer of 2017. Level 5 already announced last year that the anime would premiere in the summer of this year.
The story takes place after 90 per cent of humanity has been wiped out by an invasion. The survivors live in a shelter where their lives are tracked and memories of the invasion are erased. Three teenagers from the shelter are chosen to control three machines that make up the Musashi robot, made of a material called Megatronium alloy. The series will balance robotic action with school life.
Each other medium (game, anime, or otherwise) tells the story from the point of view of a different set of characters.
The game now features a different cast from Level-5 that was originally revealed for the game in 2016. The new cast includes:
Toshiki Masuda as Yamato Ichidaiji (previously featured in Masakazu Morita)
Shunsuke Takeuchi as Ryugo Hijikata (previously included in Tatsuhisa Suzuki)
Soma Saito as Teru Asami (previously included with Miyu Irino)
Kouki Uchiyama as Reiji Amemiya (previously seen in Kaito Ishikawa)
Sumire Morohoshi as Jun Kirishima
Megumi Han as Momoka Saotome
Ayumu Murase as Kota Akutagawa
Yuuki Kaji as Takumi Kindaichi
The game will be a "robot action RPG" with multiplayer features. The game is launching for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, but doesn't have a release window yet.
